We all love healthy and glowing skin. For the past few years, one of the biggest trends in skincare is the Korean skincare routine. Skincare means the step by step procedures to achieve flawless, dewy and healthy skin.
Korean skincare starts with products specifically formulated for skin type and includes steps like the double cleansing method, followed by an essence, serum, and moisturizer.
So, let's see the steps to follow the Korean skincare routine.
Step 1:Double cleansing Method. It consists of two steps.
First: Cleansing oil/ Balm: Cleansing balm is used to deeply clean dirt and pollution without clogging pores while keeping the skin moisturised. It is for clearing clogged pores and makeup residue. It helps wipe off daily toxins and get your skin clean, pure and smooth as silk.
Second: Face wash
After cleansing oil, the second step in Korean skincare routine is a face wash. Face wash dissolves leftover dirt, grime, impurities and makeup, gently clearing the skin.
Step 2:Scrubbing/Exfoliate:
There are two types of exfoliating. One is a physical exfoliator, and the second is chemical exfoliator. The exfoliator will scrub off dead skin cells relieving new radiant skin underneath. Exfoliation is essential as a build-up of dead cells causes clogged pores, uneven skin tone and deeper wrinkles. In Korean skincare routine, they mostly do chemical exfoliator. Use a gentle exfoliator at least once a week.
Step 3:Toning
Toning the skin means to hydrate the skin, shrink the appearance of pores and restore the natural pH level and leaves the skin clean and clear. Toner is mild astringent properties help the rest of your skincare products work more efficiently.
Step 4: Essence/Ampoule
Highly concentrated ampoule essence brightens skin tone and takes care of spots by brightening skin from within with potent moisture. Emulsion replenishes moisture and leaves skin feeling fresh. It recharges skin with moisture and replenishes its moisture barrier.
Step 5: Serum
Face serums are a vital part in Korean skincare routine because they help to repair or protect the skin from ageing, hyperpigmentation, acne and boosting skin's radiance. So if you have a particular skin issue that needs addressing, it's worth exploring serums. Serums come in different consistencies from thin and watery ones to thicker, gel-like ones. These differences in viscosity and formula make specific serums more appropriate for a particular skin type or concern.
Step 6: Sheet Mask
Sheet mask infuses skin with vital moisture while helping improve overall tone and firmness. It lightly moisturizes, hydrates and soothes skin without leaving it sticky or dry.
Step 7: Moisturizing
Moisturizing provides a protective layer to the skin that locks in moisture and keeps skin hydrated. This hydration is what gives skin a smooth, luminous appearance. It balances skin's moisture and hydration levels so that it feels plump, healthy and soft.
Step 8: Sunscreen
Sunscreen merely filters the sun's rays, allowing some of the ultraviolet rays to go through and penetrate the skin. It comes in liquid form. Sunscreen is a vital part of Korean skincare routine.
Step 9: Eye cream
Eye creams are formulated specifically for the delicate skin around the eye. Using an eye cream can keep skin looking youthful and healthy for a long time. An eye cream that contains peptides can help boost collagen activity, lighten the fine lines and wrinkles and puffiness around the eyes.
Step 10: Lip Balm
Lip balm is a wax-like substance to moisturise the chapped lips. The skin on lips is thinner than a face. So it is essential to moisturise the lips. Nowadays, most of the lip balm comes with SPF. It will protect the lips from harmful UV rays other than moisturising.
