Underarms should naturally be about the same shade as the rest of your skin. But sometimes, the skin in the armpits can turn darker. Dark underarms usually aren’t a sign of anything serious, but some people may find them embarrassing.
Dark underarm can be caused due to shaving, accumulation of dead cells, excessive sweating, improper ventilation, usage of certain medications or deodorants, etc.
A few natural remedies for lightening the underarm are
Lemon is a natural bleaching agent. Just rub half a lemon on the dark area every day for 2 minutes before taking a bath and you will see a remarkable difference. Or take 1 teaspoon of sugar and add the required lemon juice and scrub it for 5 minutes and wash it with normal water.
Coconut oil is popular for its natural skin lightening agent - vitamin E. Just massage your underarms with coconut oil daily and leave it on for fifteen minutes. Coconut oil can be used as a moisturizer also.
Potatoes are also great for pigmentation. Take a potato and grate it, squeeze its juice out, apply it directly on the armpits, and rinse it off after 10-15 minutes.
Steps to be taken care of are
1.To avoid irritation in the underarms, lubricate the skin with a gentle soap or shaving cream before shaving.
2. Use salicylic acid or Vitamin C serum.
3.Apply a moisturizing cream afterward.
4. Use cotton clothes. Avoid tight clothes that will make friction, resulting in pigmentation.
5. Avoid deodorants and antiperspirants.
6. While bathing, scrub the underarm with the loofah.
